What concrete remediation actually involves
Concrete fails from the inside. Chloride and carbonation reach the reinforcement, the steel corrodes and expands, and the cover concrete cracks and spalls away. Painting over it changes nothing. Proper remediation removes the contaminated concrete, treats or replaces the steel, reinstates with engineered repair mortars and then stops the corrosion cell restarting.
That last step separates real remediation contractors from patch crews. Depending on the structure and the engineer’s durability targets we install cathodic protection, apply migrating corrosion inhibitors, or wrap with carbon fibre where sections need strength back. Then protective coatings seal the structure against the next twenty years.
The structures we work on
Road and rail bridges, wharves and marine structures, water and wastewater assets, factory and process plant slabs and columns, commercial car parks, heritage facades and public buildings. Industrial and infrastructure work is our core: live plants, trafficked structures and assets that cannot simply close while we fix them.
Access is part of the trade. Our teams work from rope access, swing stages, EWPs and confined space entry, so scaffolding does not blow the budget before repairs begin.
How a project runs
We start from your engineer’s report, or arrange the investigation if you do not have one: cover meter and half cell surveys, chloride sampling, delamination mapping. You get a fixed price against a defined repair schedule, methodology and ITP. During the works every repair is logged and photographed, and you receive handover documentation your asset manager can file against the maintenance plan.
