Wentworthville Pool, Wentworthville
Client: Cumberland Shire CouncilAs part of the pool’s major refurbishment, the 125k litre balance tank was investigated as it showed signs of cracking. The decision was made to pursue remedial works over replacement and Perfect Remediation was successful in winning the job. Our package consisted of the following works:
- Removal of balance tank lid, break out and dispose
- Repair structural corbel
- Rectify fractured concrete with crack injection
- Install cathodic protection
- Form, pour and coat new tank lid with Laykold®
- Reinstall lid
After sixty years of service and foot traffic, the tank lid was unserviceable. It was totally demolished. The ledge holding up the lid – the corbel – was also heavily damaged. All loose material was stripped away, the structure was drilled for rod and a new corbel was poured.
The ageing balance tank walls were vee’d out and a single stage urethane injectable used to reinstate integrity. Runs were chased and hammered out and CP cabling & cathodes installed.
A new lid was formed up and poured on site, was painted with a high-traffic coating used on US Open tennis courts and craned into place. Works are wrapping up at the pool at the time of writing.
