Abrasive Blasting and Protective Coatings
Surface preparation to AS 1627 standards and coating systems that actually last, because the coating is only ever as good as the preparation underneath it.
- ✓Blasting to Sa2.5 and the class your spec calls for
- ✓Garnet, soda and sponge media matched to the substrate
- ✓Protective coating systems for steel and concrete
- ✓Containment and dust control for occupied sites
- ✓QA documentation: profile readings, DFT reports, holiday testing

Preparation is 80 percent of the coating job
When a coating fails early it is almost never the paint. It is the preparation: the surface was not cleaned to the class the spec required, the profile was wrong for the product, or the steel flash rusted before the primer went on. We treat blasting and coating as one job with one QA trail, so there is no gap for that failure to hide in.
Every stage gets documented. Surface profile readings after the blast, environmental conditions at application, dry film thickness on every coat, and holiday testing where the service condition demands it. If your asset owner or engineer wants the ITP up front, we will give you one you can submit.
Abrasive blasting
Garnet for structural steel, sponge and soda where the substrate is delicate or the environment cannot take dust, and vacuum recovery blasting inside operating facilities.
We blast to the class your specification calls for and prove it, rather than telling you it looks clean.
- Structural steel, bridges, wharves and tanks
- Concrete surface preparation for coatings and repairs
- Shot blasting for floors and pavements
- Containment, encapsulation and dust management on live sites
Protective coating systems
Two pack epoxies, polyurethanes, zinc rich primers and high build systems, applied to manufacturer specification with the environmental conditions logged at every coat.
Where the asset sits in a harsh environment, marine, industrial or chemical, we will talk you through the system choice rather than just pricing what the spec says, because sometimes the spec is the problem.
Lead paint and hazardous coatings
Old industrial steel usually carries lead paint. We remove it under controlled conditions with the right containment and waste handling, and where blasting is not viable we bring laser removal instead. Either way the substrate ends up ready for the new system and the paperwork stands up to audit.
For a fast, accurate price: Tell us the substrate, the rough area in square metres, and whether the site is operating while we work. Those three things decide most of the cost.
Where we work
Sydney is home base, and we travel nationally for industrial and infrastructure work: refineries, bridges, wharves, plants and mine sites.
Regional and remote work
We mobilise a Class A crew anywhere in Australia for projects above $250,000. Regional Queensland, the Territory, Western Australia and remote mine sites are normal work for us. Below that figure the travel and accommodation usually costs more than you save, and we will tell you that rather than dress up a price.
Our NSW Class A friable licence AD212957 is accepted by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland as an equivalent licence, confirmed in writing in April 2024. There is no separate Queensland approval to wait on before we start. We carry $20 million in asbestos liability cover.
Questions we get asked
Do you work to AS 1627?
Yes. We blast to the class your spec calls for and provide profile readings as proof, not just a visual sign off.
Can you blast inside an operating plant?
Yes, with containment, extraction and vacuum recovery. Shutdown windows are also core work for us.
What about old lead paint?
We handle it, including containment, air monitoring and licensed disposal. Laser removal is available where blasting is not an option.
Do you supply the coating QA documentation?
Yes. ITP, surface profile, environmental logs, DFT reports and holiday testing where required.
How big or small a job will you take?
From a single tank or gantry to full bridge and wharf programs. Smaller industrial jobs are welcome.
Got steel or concrete that needs protecting?
Send the spec if you have one, or just tell us what the asset is. We will come back with a system and a price.
