Remediation Works to Double Bay Post Office
Scope of Works
Perfect Remediation was engaged to supply and install a new aluminium façade louvre system for the Australia Post office in Double Bay. This required a complete replacement of the existing façade louvres, with custom-fabricated aluminium systems.
As part of the project, our team also managed all necessary approvals, including obtaining a Permit to Stand Plant on the footpath from Woollahra Council, which was essential for carrying out the installation. Comprehensive traffic and pedestrian control management plans were developed and implemented to ensure the works could proceed safely and with minimal disruption to the public.
Challenges
Executing the works in a live, high-traffic environment presented multiple logistical and safety challenges:
- The post office remained fully operational throughout the project.
- Located adjacent to New South Head Road, a major thoroughfare, the site experienced constant pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
- Work could only be undertaken during Council-approved off-peak hours (9:30am – 2:30pm), which required tight scheduling and coordination.
- Ensuring pedestrian safety and maintaining access to the post office was critical, requiring clear, controlled detours.
How PRR Overcame the Challenges
Perfect Remediation ensured the success of the project through proactive planning and agile site management:
- Our team prepared two alternative pedestrian control plans, which were implemented based on real-time site conditions to maintain public safety and flow.
- All activities were conducted within the strict time windows mandated by Council, without compromising quality or safety.
- Site supervision and stakeholder coordination were maintained at a high level, ensuring minimal disruption to Australia Post operations.
The project was delivered on time, within scope, and without incident, meeting all regulatory requirements. Our client praised the Perfect Remediation team for its meticulous planning, strong safety culture, and efficiency in managing complex site constraints.
